Your Right to Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your personal information from SpamScore. We are committed to making this process simple and transparent.

This page explains how to request deletion of your data and what information will be deleted.

What Data Can Be Deleted?

If You Have an Account:

  • Account information (email address, profile data)
  • Saved scan results and history
  • Subscription information
  • Usage data associated with your account

If You Don't Have an Account:

  • Email content you submitted for scanning (typically deleted within 30 days automatically)
  • URLs, phone numbers, SMS messages, or business information you submitted
  • Any temporary data associated with your IP address or device

Note: Some data may be retained for legal or security purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, legal compliance) as required by law.

How to Request Data Deletion

Option 1: Email Request (Recommended)

Send an email to support@getspamscore.com with the subject line:

"Data Deletion Request"

Include the following information:

  • Your email address (if you have an account)
  • Confirmation that you want to delete your data
  • Any specific data you want deleted (if applicable)

Option 2: Account Self-Service (If Available)

If you have an account, you may be able to delete your account and data directly from your account settings:

  1. Log in to your SpamScore account
  2. Go to Account Settings
  3. Click "Delete Account" or "Delete My Data"
  4. Confirm the deletion

Option 3: Contact Form

You can also use our contact form on the website to request data deletion. Make sure to clearly state that you want to delete your data.

What Happens After You Request Deletion?

  1. Confirmation: We will send you a confirmation email within 48 hours acknowledging your request
  2. Verification: We may ask you to verify your identity to protect your privacy
  3. Processing: We will process your deletion request within 30 days
  4. Completion: Once deleted, we will send you a confirmation that your data has been removed

Note: Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days before permanent deletion. Data required for legal compliance may be retained longer as required by law.

Automatic Data Deletion

Even without a request, we automatically delete certain data:

  • Scanned Emails: Email content is typically deleted within 30 days of scanning (unless saved in an account)
  • Temporary Data: Temporary scan data is deleted after processing
  • Inactive Accounts: Accounts inactive for 2+ years may be automatically deleted

Data Retention Exceptions

We may retain certain data even after a deletion request in the following circumstances:

  • Legal Requirements: Data required for legal compliance, tax records, or regulatory requirements
  • Security: Data needed for fraud prevention, security investigations, or abuse prevention
  • Backups: Data in backups (deleted within 90 days)
  • Anonymized Data: Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot identify you

Third-Party Data

If you used third-party services (e.g., Facebook Login, Google Sign-In), you may also need to delete data from those services separately:

  • Facebook: Manage your data at Facebook Settings
  • Google: Manage your data at Google Account
  • Stripe: Payment data is managed by Stripe. Contact Stripe support for payment data deletion.
